I'm a Troublemaker

Three nights ago Lily kept me up until 2 in the morning before I could finally get her to go to sleep.  Then she woke up again around 5 in the morning and I never could get her back to sleep again, so I just stayed up with her.  Around 11 AM AJ managed to put Lily down, the poor thing, but there was no sleeping for me because Samuel was wide awake.  Samuel went down for his nap around 1:30 PM but Lily was up so I couldn’t sleep then either.  Around 2:30 or 3 PM Lily went down again and I was practically asleep when Samuel showed up.  Samuel equals no sleep- I was SOO exhausted.  Pretty much Samuel got away with everything.
Have you ever looked the other way while your child did something that they probably shouldn’t do, but you were just too tired to stop them?  This is the story of my life recently and especially two days ago when I was running on zero sleep. Here is a fun little story I wanted to share- hope you enjoy!!

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?' She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?' 'Yes,' was his incredulous reply. She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

Does that sound familiar to any of you?  Because it is still fresh in my mind, even two days later, and I hope that it doesn’t happen again soon.  Check out this definition of mother …

… Isn’t that the truth!! But I would gladly do the work of twenty-ONE for all the smiles and kisses and hugs that I get every day being a mother.  Below are a few pictures of the dirty deeds Samuel got away with while I looked the other way.

He tore apart the couch.

Ok, so I have to explain to you what he did after he tore the cushions off the couch, because it was hilarious.  You see that little tractor pictured above?  Well imagine a little boy sitting on it and then bouncing up and down on the springs.  It turns into quite the ride, let me tell you.

The diapers were scattered on the floor, as were our shoes.

We have a shoe mat right inside our door where AJ and I leave our shoes.  Samuel walked every pair of shoes off the mat, to some other location inside the house.  I couldn’t help but laugh when he was walking around in my heels.  (Pictured with the couch.)

Of course, he couldn't resist getting into the dishwasher.

This picture was taken before he pulled the bottom rack out completely, and started pushing it around the house.

I might have staged this picture ...

The dog food was either NOT in the bowl it should be in, or it was strewn on the floor.  And there was water spilt all over the place from Samuel chasing Chewy around, while carrying the water dish, trying to get him to “drink it.”

Samuel dumped out all our clean laundry and played in the laundry basket.

And he kept picking imaginary boogers out of his nose.
