To BYU or bust!!

For the first four months of our marriage we lived in Queen Creek Arizona.  AJ worked at M&I Bank and I was going to school.  During that time AJ applied to Brigham Young University for the fall semester and was accepted.  I finished up my semester and started packing up our apartment, while AJ worked.  We were going to be moving up a few months before the semester started so that AJ could find a job and we could settle into Provo before school started.  It was a fiasco trying to find an apartment up here!  We were going to be moving into Wymount Apartments, which is for students and their families only.  We had picked one out and paid our deposit and were ready to go … we thought.  But just about a month before we were going to move they told us that we couldn’t move in because AJ wasn’t “a student” yet.
Are you serious people?!  AWWWW!!  So we started searching everywhere, trying to find anything that we could move into, that was affordable and somewhat close to campus.  (AJ didn’t have a job in Provo and we only had so much money saved.)  Plus, we had already told our landlord that we would be out by March 31st.  Finally, we found something, a one bedroom apartment for $550 a month.  We sent an email explaining our situation, practically begging for the apartment.  Ok, we weren’t begging, we were just desperate to find a place to live.  Thankfully we were the ones chosen to take over the contract.  We had a place to live!!
Cool pregnant trick!
My family drove up with us, they were the ones pulling the trailer with all our stuff, and we had our car stuffed to the mix … sort of.  When we arrived in Provo we unloaded all of our belongings into our new apartment, and headed off to Salt Lake for an awesome weekend of general conference with my family.  Then after the weekend was over my family dropped us off at our apartment and … left.  AJ and I looked at each other with the same expression of, “What now?”  It was a little shocking to find ourselves alone in Provo UT with both our families over a 12 hour drive away.
For the first month of our summer in Provo AJ didn’t have a job, so we spent every waking minute together.  It was our month long honeymoon we never got to have.  We explored Provo and the BYU campus; we were job hunting, and we submerged ourselves in the world of Percy Jackson. ( We suggest you all take a dip- it was awesome!)  AJ got a job as a delivery “expert” at Domino’s Pizza.  It came at the perfect time- our money was dwindling quickly.  When there is no money coming in it feels like your money goes a lot quicker.
As the beginning of fall semester neared, so did my due date.  AJ and I were both extremely nervous but for different reasons; he, about school and, I, about childbirth.  Samuel made his grand appearance on AJ’s second day of classes.

The bedroom: ours and Samuel's
Our bed: my grandma made that quilt for our wedding.
