Some of you might not know, but I am a cosmetologist. Surprising, I know. Anyway, a couple weeks ago I got a call from my cousin, Ashley and she wanted my opinion on a cut she was thinking about. We set up a time and when she came over I was a little shocked at the pictures she showed me. It was a 2 inch, at the max, pixie cut, and Ashley’s hair was at her mid- back! I told her honestly that I thought it was a cute cut and I was positive that she could pull it off, so we marked a date to cut it. And we did. She lost over 13 inches of hair that day, but she rocks that short hair.
AJ thought Ashley was crazy and he kept telling me, “Don’t you ever do anything like that.” And to be honest, I NEVER could do anything like that. Ashley is a brave woman. So imagine my shock when AJ starts talking about how he wants to shave his head completely bald. WHAT?! And he wants my opinion on it. Going really short is one thing, and completely bald is another. I had no idea what to think. When I looked at it through my cosmetologist goggles I was like, “Yeah man. Whatever you want!!” but then I remember he is my husband … and I like his hair.
I don’t think I was responsive enough so AJ put up a poll on Facebook to get votes. There were 6 votes in favor of AJ shaving his head and 7 against. But I am sure that AJ’s vote counted for 2, so shaving his head won; 8 to 7. And we had to cut his hair soon, so that he could look professional for graduate school in August. During Samuel’s nap yesterday we got everything set up to do the dead. As I was just about to take my clippers to his hair, I almost cried. I decided to be funny, and cut just the top portion of AJ’s head to look like an old bald man. I almost peed my pants when he looked at it in the mirror; we were both cracking up. And we just HAD to shave the top portion of his head, so he had a nice shiny bald spot. We decided that we hope he never goes bald.
We had a little fun before we finally got to the end product. Did you see AJ's creepy clown smile? He is talking about doing this to his hair again for Halloween this year and being a clown or something. We should have left one side LONG and the other side short. Looks good don't you think? We also thought about leaving his sideburns ... but we decided that looked a little too goofy. Do you see all that hair that we cut off?! That used to be on my husband's head.
And finally this was our finished product … what do you think? Crazy, huh?! Does his head look smaller to you too? And he might or might not have a blue head. P.S. Feel free to comment on the blog. :) And don't miss the video.
So … remember when we cut AJ’s hair during Samuel’s nap? Well, we wanted to record Samuel’s reaction to share with all of you, and this is what we got. Hope ya'll enjoy!!
I got a kick out of Samuel's furrowed brows at the beginning of the video, lol!
ReplyDeletewhat fun! I'd never let brad do the bald look...
ReplyDeleteI like it! he's very brave!
ReplyDeletewhen samuel said "Gone" that is my favorite part
ReplyDelete47 second mark, Best moment ever! Yeah his head definitely looks smaller but it'd be really weird if it still looked as big as with his hair. I'm so happy you took the old man pics too, Awesome.
ReplyDeleteAJ pulls off the handsome bald man look pretty well ;) and we all know Samuel is adorable
ReplyDeleteThe good thing that came out of this was all the stages pictures, but I'll be honest, I'm not a fan AT ALL! Your nose looks bigger, your head smaller and now your glasses look too big. On a happier note, I have always thought you had great hair, so I don't know why in the world you would consider removing it. Maybe it is different with guys though, since it should grow back fast, and in the long run, you can look back and laugh, but for these next 3 months, if it were Dave, I'd be secretly embarrassed. Here's to being NUTS! - Jamie
